(Dec 2009)- The Emergency Department of Deaconess Hospital, located at 311 Straight Street, closed January 11, 2010, at midnight.

Deaconess is in the process of restructuring inpatient services to accommodate patients who need to stay overnight for shorter periods, such as the cardiac mini-maze patients. The hospital will continue to provide a variety of outpatient services, including diagnostic and cardiac imaging and interventions, urgent care, laboratory services and ambulatory surgery. The Older Adult Mental Health Program, both inpatient and the outpatient partial hospitalization program, continues to help seniors better manage the symptoms of mental illness. Regency Hospital, an independent long term care acute care hospital located on the fourth floor, remains in operation.

Older adults have long been a focus for Deaconess Hospital. Both the ActiveLife and Lifeline programs will continue as part of the services the hospital provides to support senior independence.
