Cincinnati, OH– InterAct for Change and Deaconess Health Associations Fund today announced they have awarded $59,000 in scholarships to 14 local nursing students. Interact for Change also presented the Nursing Excellence Award to two nurses demonstrating outstanding contributions. One of the 10 scholarships awarded by Deaconess was made possible by the Deaconess School of Nursing Alumni.
“These scholarships assist nursing students enrolled at all touch points of nursing education programs, whether just beginning their career or working towards future teaching positions,” said Francie Wolgin, senior program officer at InterAct for Change. “The Greater Cincinnati community relies on thousands of nurses each and every day who provide or influence nursing care in schools, hospitals and other facilities throughout the region.”
“Deaconess is pleased to continue its tradition of supporting healthcare professionals in our community through this annual scholarship program, said Tony Woods, Chairman of Deaconess Associations, Inc. “In the past four years, the Deaconess Foundation has granted over $275,000 in scholarship monies to students who are pursuing careers that benefit the quality of life for individuals . . . and the health and well-being of our community. We are honored to support and recognize these worthy students.”
Stephen Roller of Primary Health Solutions received the award for leadership. Sara Frazee of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center received the award for clinical practice.
